The Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is celebrating 150 years of mechanical engineering at Cornell.

While engineering and mechanic arts students were studying at Cornell as early as 1868, it wasn’t until the 1873-74 academic year that a four-year Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree was offered by what was then the Sibley College of the Mechanic Arts.

Today, our community includes practitioners, researchers, and educators who have defined mechanical and aerospace engineering. Working together, we can transform teaching and technology in order to lead innovation for the next 150 years.

Celebratory events will be announced through 2024 and we hope you will join us in commemorating #Sibley150.
