van der Meulen appointed as Associate Dean for Research and Grad Studies

Prof Marjolein van der Meulen, Swanson Professor of Biomedical Engineering, appointed as Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies in the College of Engineering

Please join us in congratulating Marjolein van der Meulen, Swanson Professor of Biomedical Engineering.  On October 1st, she was appointed as Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies in the College of Engineering.  She looks forward to supporting faculty research endeavors and graduate student success in the college.   
Professor van der Meulen is currently teaching MAE 2020 Statics and Mechanics of Solids.  Her research laboratory focuses on orthopaedic biomechanics, specifically the interaction between mechanical stimuli and the skeleton.  Prior to Cornell, Professor van der Meulen worked for three years as a biomedical engineer at the Rehabilitation R&D Center of the Department of Veterans Affairs in Palo Alto, California. In 1995 she received an NIH FIRST Award, and in 1999 an NSF Faculty Early Career Development Award.  She obtained her PhD from Stanford University in 1993 in Mechanical Engineering and her SB in 1987 from MIT.
