On May 4, 2015, The Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) held a recognition ceremony honoring students who served on the executive boards of the Cornell Chapters of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and on the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA).   At this event, Professor Wolfgang Sachse, faculty advisor to ASME, and Professor Olivier Desjardins, acting faculty advisor to AIAA, awarded certificates to these students.  ASME and AIAA  are vital and contribute much in community-building efforts, impacting not only  Engineering students ranging from freshmen to seniors,  but also influencing future engineers through their out-reach endeavors.   ASME accomplishments this year include organizing:  numerous corporate information sessions; a graduate school information session; a faculty panel discussion on paths in engineering; various social events, assisting the Ithaca ScienCenter with Spooky Science experiments; and hosted a review session for Engrd 2020.  AIAA offered corporate information sessions and participated in various out-reach efforts.
