Christopher Hernandez Promoted to Full Professor

Christopher Hernandez was promoted to Full Professor in the Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

Hernandez has long been recognized as a worldwide leader in the field of orthopedic biomechanics and has received many accolades for his work in that area including being named a fellow of three professional societies (ASME, AIMBE, ASMBR).  The recent expansion of Hernandez's efforts into microbiology including how the microbiome may affect orthopedic disorders and how the mechanics of individual bacterial cells can affect their resistance to antibiotics is also proving exciting.

Since joining us in 2010, Hernandez has also demonstrated leadership both within the Sibley School and within his technical areas. As Associate Director for Graduate Programs, Hernandez promoted and executed several initiatives including those aimed at increasing the diversity of our program and the number of external fellowships we receive.  He has also lead several initiatives through the Orthopedic Research Society and the other professional organizations listed above including promoting diversity within them.
