Sibley INSTRUCTIONAL LABS Lab Access Request Form and
Instructions |

The
following policies pertain to all Lab Access and PC Account Requests: Individuals To obtain card access and computer accounts, please read the rules
thoroughly and click on the link below stating that you have read and
understand them. The link will direct
you to the lab access and PC account request form. Groups Student project teams, who require access for more than 6 people,
should submit an Excel spreadsheet, or comma delimited file, to Matt Ulinski
by e-mail at mu25@cornell.edu. The file should contain the following
information (in this order): last name, first name, student status
(UG, MEng, PhD, Staff, Faculty), CUID number,
access ending date (mm/dd/yyyy), team/group name, NetID, lab room number (114 Rhodes, 245 Upson, 265 Upson,
B30 Rhodes, B84 Rhodes) Student project teams will be assigned a group PC account, with
shared server storage space. Under
special circumstances individual accounts can be set up. A separate request should be sent to Matt
Ulinski by e-mail at mu25@cornell.edu
to set up PC accounts. |

GENERAL LAB USE: |
|
|
|
Users ·
Access to the
studio is strictly limited to designated classes, approved projects and
students on a term-by-term basis. ·
At the end
of each term users are removed from
the electronic lock and PC accounts, unless previous arrangements have been
made. ·
Access is
provided 24/7. |
|
|
Rules ·
During classes
or labs permission must be obtained from the TA/supervisor to work in the
lab. This should be worked out prior to the class/lab and not during
the class/lab. ·
No food or
drink is allowed in any of the labs at any time. ·
Clean up any
mess and return equipment and supplies and furniture to their original
location. ·
Don’t
mess with anything that isn’t yours. ·
When working in
any of the labs without windowed doors, leave the door open. ·
When you leave,
close the door. ·
Never work
alone in the lab after normal lab hours. |

range of equipment and supplies are available for instruction lab use.

Problems/Help: ·
Report any
problems immediately to the TA or staff member on duty. ·

Approved Design Studio(265 Upson) Activities ·
The Studio
supports general design activities including computing and fabrication.
Because of the computer equipment, no excessive dust making activities are
permitted in the Studio. During fabrication activities, any dust or other
mess must be cleaned up immediately to protect the computers. |

Approved Mechatronics/System/Controls(245
Upson) Activities ·
The Mechantronics/System/Controls
lab supports general activities for MAE 326, MAE 378 and MAE 428. including
computing and fabrication. Because of the computer equipment, no excessive
dust making activities are permitted in the Studio. During fabrication
activities, any dust or other mess must be cleaned up immediately to protect
the computers. |

COMPUTER USE: |
|
|
|
Computers ·
Accounts for
the Windows NT machines will be provided to all registered users and class
sections. ·
If you have
been issued your own PC account, you will have data storage available on the
server H drive. You can locate this in
the My Computer Folder, YourNetID$ on H. This space will be available for you as
long as you have a valid PC account.
These accounts typically last the entire academic year, unless
arranged otherwise. ·
There is no
private or secure local data storage.
The local drives are routinely upgraded and any data stored on the
drives will be lost. ·
Zip drives,
floppy and CD R/W are provided for additional backup. ·
The ·
Log off when
done using a computer. Never use the
lock out feature to save a computer for later use – violation of this
rule will result in loss of computer privileges. |
