Staff in Sibley School won the Academic Achievement Award

Liran Gazit was selected for the Academic Achievement Award from the Engineering Alumni Association! Gazit joined the Sibley School in 2009 as a teaching support specialist. One of his favorite aspects of working with students is helping them work through their problems and getting to that “Aha” moment by making the connection between theory and hands-on experience. “I am grateful to be part of the MAE instructional labs team, and for the collaborations with faculty this position has offered me,” says Liran. Christopher Hernandez Promoted to Full Professor

Christopher Hernandez was promoted to Full Professor in the Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Hernandez has long been recognized as a worldwide leader in the field of orthopedic biomechanics and has received many accolades for his work in that area including being named a fellow of three professional societies (ASME, AIMBE, ASMBR). Zhiting Tian and Guy Hoffman promoted to Associate Professor with Tenure

Zhiting Tian and Guy Hoffman have been approved for promotion to Associate Professor with Tenure by the Cornell Board of Trustees. Tian's work on the design and discovery of new materials and devices through a fundamental understanding of nanoscale thermal transport and energy conversion processes is widely recognized and well regarded for both its computational and experimental aspects. Contributions to thermoelectric devices, thermal rectification in organic materials, and inelastic x-ray scattering techniques are among those for which she is well known. Nelly Andarawis-Puri appointed Associate Director for Graduate Programs in the Sibley School

Professor Nelly Andarawis-Puri has accepted the position of Associate Director of the Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering for Graduate Programs. Andarawis-Puri’s three-year term will begin on July 1, 2020. Andarawis-Puri is the Clare Booth Luce Associate Professor in the Sibley School and Nancy and Peter Meinig Family Investigator in the Life Sciences. After joining the department in 2016 she has built up a strong research program in tendon biomechanics, repair, and regeneration. Alan Zehnder will become the new Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies in the College of Engineering

Alan Zehnder, Professor in the Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, will succeed Mike Thompson as the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies in the College of Engineering starting July 1st, 2020.
