Bio-fluid dynamics, Bio-fluidic device, and Imaging techniques at micro/nano scales. As we enter the era of quantitative biology, there is an immediate demand for a set of new quantitative experimental and numerical tools for probing spatial and temporal cellular dynamics at multiple length scales, namely macro-, micro- and nano-scales. These tools are critical for resolving the central question in biology, which is to correlate dynamical activities at molecular levels (gene expression/protein dynamics) to cellular functions, and to physiology of living organisms. The basic premise for our line of study to integrate quantitative techniques that are prevalent in physics and engineering into the animated world of bio-fluids.
